Ocean Mile Story & Pix on New Jersey Newsroom.com

Art to imitate life in Asbury Park with ‘Ocean Mile’

CORRECTION: I provided a wrong bit of terminology for this report. Historian Werner Baumgartner wasn't jailed for zoning code violations, it was property code violations. Apparently, zoning code violations cover serious infractions that can result in faulty buildings that can fall on people, not failing to paint your house. My apologies.

NewJerseyNewsroom.com is a new venture in online journalism. Started by veteran writers from the Star-Ledger and other newspapers you'd recognize, Newsroom does an admirable job of covering the same range of topics you'd find in any good, daily newspaper -- but on a shoestring. Check it out and please let us know what you think.
One thing changed since this story went to bed: Paul Nixon had to bow out of Ocean Mile due to a scheduling conflict. (You probably heard the primal scream.) We're talking to replacements now. Stay tuned, since there's never a dull moment in exciting Asbury Park! [7/20/10- Paul has been replaced by Brian Gildea. See post above.]
