City Manager Terry Reidy this week (2/4/09) confirmed that the State of NJ has sent auditors to review the books of Asbury Park, one of several "distressed cities", which also include Camden, Trenton, Paterson, Jersey City, Union City, Ewing and Bridgeton. The State wants to see how the $191.1 million in the 2006-07 budget year was spent. Corzine has promised $145.3 million in 2008-09. In addition, the city's own auditing firm is conducting its annual audit.
