Eyewitness Accounts of OG Fires

A resident of Mt. Tabor Way, in Ocean Grove, was awoken by her Siamese cat around 5 am this morning. She could see the embers flying through the air. They were coming from the historic Manchester Inn at Ocean Pathway, on the north side of the Great Lawn that leads to the Great Auditorium, a destination for tourists the world over. Firemen walked the narrow streets alerting residents. She was told to prepare to leave. She and her sister and tenant crated their cats as a precaution.
Before sunrise a resident of the Asbury Tower, a senior residence, saw lights to the south from her kitchen window on the 24th floor of the building. At 7:20 white smoke was still rising.
